Dual CS 800 Turntable. Dual proudly present you the lastest development from St. Georgen in the Black Forest - the CS 800! A completely new designed turntable that lays the foundation for a new series from Dual. The basic design is a heavy chassis in combination with a aluminium plated subchassis, which is floated on parabolic springs.
I have a Dual CS 415-2 Turntable with missing power pack. This model features external power pack rather than onboard. I listened to a video on power packs. It was indicated that with mA/A values, there is a pull rather than a push. If the power pack has greater mA/A than the end device requirement, the device will only pull what is required.
Dual went further up-market in 1975 with the 701, a direct-drive, semi-automatic turntable which, it was claimed, delivered performance of a 'professional standard'. The same year it unveiled the CS 601 seen here, the first belt-drive model in its range. Supplied with a plinth, lid and factory-fitted Shure V15/III-LM cartridge [ HFN Aug '73
I recently found a beautiful Dual CS 505-2 turntable for $10! dolled it up a bit and I'm giving it to someone as an X-mas gift.I regret having to give it away and it seems like a decent, basic turntable. But that's all I have to give right now. Anyway, there is a pitch control knob on the unit and I have no idea how to use it.
Remember that the Technics belt drive turntable uses a tiny DC motor about the size of an apricot. And it WILL eventually burn out. Then you will discover that motors are NOT available. On the other hand, the Dual's use high-quality AC motors that could, in principle, last 100 years. Fred
